Don't Fret the Sweat

Have a tween or teen in your house?  If you do then chances are you've dealt with this issue.  My oldest children are 14, 17 and 18.  My girls have always been pretty diligent about hygiene but my son, well, the only way to say it is...he smells.  He's got B.O.  Bless his heart he showers everyday but he can still get funky.  He's got anti-perspirant. I gave him his pick of several.  I mean I coupon so I've got a nice stockpile of pretty much any brand he wants.  I haven't figured out if he doesn't notice, doesn't care or just doesn't remember to use i but it's hard to tell him he stinks.  The best way I've found is through humor.  I tell him he has man smell.  He laughs and he takes care of it.  Thank God so far there have been no hurt feelings.

Unilever, the makers of Degree, Dove and Suave deodorants and anti-perspirants has launched a new site, Don't Fret the Sweat to help you navigate this sensitive tween/teen issue. It has expert advice, tips, FAQs and even a product matchmaker.  Learn more by watching  the video below and join the Don't Fret the Sweat community on facebook.

So how have you handled this issue with your child?  I'd love to hear your suggestions.  I've still got two little ones to raise and can never have enough tools in my toolbox.

Disclosure:  I wrote this post in return for a chance to win a prize.  Thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Purex Complete with Zout Review and Giveaway

As a Purex Insider I was sent a bottle of Purex Complete with Zout to try.  Purex Complete with Zout is the Purex you know and love enhanced with triple-enzyme stain-fighting power of Zout stain remover.  It comes in Fresh Morning Burst scent or Free & Clear, which is a hypoallergnic fragrance-free formula.  Purex with Zout has three powerful stain-fighting enzymes in it:
  1. Protease:  An enzyme that works against grass and blood.
  2. Amylase:  Which works against chocolate and tomato sauce.
  3. Mannanase:  This enzyme works guar, a very sticky substance found in many foods.

I decided to really put this detergent to the test.  I loaded up the washer with Joshua's grass-stained play clothes and Caitlyn's chocolate ice cream stained white sweater.  I just threw them in, measured the detergent and hit the start button.  I then went about the business of the day.

I checked the clothes when they came out of the dryer.  First, the good news:  ALL of the grass stains were gone. Yay!  The bad news?  The ice cream stain, although lighter is still very obvious.  I'll be honest though.  I didn't pre-treat as recommended.  I was in a hurry to get the laundry done and checked off my to-do list for the day.  Maybe if I had pre-treated the stain I wouldn't be considering throwing such a cute sweater away right now.

What I didn't like - It didn't perform as I expected on the chocolate stain.

What I liked - It worked on grass stains.  It's formulated to work in both traditional and High Efficiency (HE) washers and I like the price.  Priced from $3.49 to $7.99 depending on size and retailer it's a lot more economical to use than many other name brand detergents.

I will still use Purex Complete with Zout but I will definitely follow the recommendations for tough stains next time.

Try it for yourself.  Request a free sample of Purex with Zout or get your $1.00 coupon here.
