Toddler Tip of the Day - No more spilled drinks

I have spent 20 years off an on cleaning up spilled beverages, usually right after I clean my kitchen floor. 

My daughter, now 4 refuses to use any type of sippy cup but still spills when we give her a big girl cup to drink out of. 

I found a solution that I wanted to pass on. I use mugs for her drinks. They are heavy and have a large base that makes them almost impossible to spill.

I recently had an opportunity to take the family to Fort Rapids Indoor Waterpark Resort in Columbus, Ohio.   It has 60,000 feet of wet and wild fun kept at a constant 84 degrees.  Fort Rapids invited my family to come stay in one of their villas and play in the Waterpark.  What could be more fun when the weather is cold, gray and gloomy outside?  We couldn't wait to get there.  We packed up our swimsuits and towels and were on our way!

It was a little late when we arrived.  We checked in but only had 15 minutes before the waterpark was scheduled to close but we were told that we could visit the waterpark when it opened in the morning and could stay all day even after we checked out.  We decided to walk around the resort and check it out.

The resort has a cool country theme.  There is a restaurant, bar, gift store, photography studio and arcade and even a gem mining station.  We played in the arcade for a while and a few tickets later the kids were happily walking out with a few hard-earned trinkets.

There is an activity board that lists several kid-friendly activities can take advantage of during their stay.  The activities change daily.  The last activity of the day was story time with milk and cookies.  We sat in for that and then headed to our room.

We stayed in the Oak Creek Canyon Room.  It was a nice room, cozy and clean.  It had two TVs so both the kids and John and I could watch what we wanted but it also has a small clothes dryer.  Large enough to put all our wet swimsuits in to dry them. 

The next morning we went to breakfast in the restaurant and then took the short walk down the hall to the waterpark. The bigger waterslides have a height requirement of 42 to 48 inches.  Caitlyn isn't that tall so John and Joshua headed to enjoy Blackout Pass, Tube Slide and Shoutout Racers while I took Caitlyn to the Kiddie Corral and Rascal Round Up.

Kiddie Corral is for the youngest of children.  Caitlyn enjoyed the small waterslides for a little while until she built up enough courage to go over to Rascal Roundup.  It's like a giant tree house with obstacles throughout with water splashing everywhere from spouts, spickets and water guns.  There is NO way to get through it dry so be forewarned!  Caitlyn got the courage to go down her first big water slide.  I think it was a little to thrilling for her because she decided to stick to the smaller, tamer water slides in Rascal Roundup after that.

We spent several hours playing until we were all tired and our fingers and toes looked like raisins.  We had a great time.  So much so in fact Caitlyn threw a tantrum as we left.  We calmed her by promising to bring her back again.  Thanks Fort Rapids for a fun-filled family weekend.
